Nightguards
A nightguard is a great idea for patients suffering from teeth grinding or bruxism, and to help prevent TMJ disorders (TMD). Nightguards are custom fitted to the patient’s mouth and bite, and can be done in a single visit. We’ll scan your mouth to get a precise fitting and then send the specs away to the lab for fabrication. It then takes a few days until we receive your nightguard back for your every night use.
Anti-Snoring Devices
Anti-snoring devices from the dentist can act as a CPAP alternative. Anti-snoring devices can help treat mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea for many patients. Fittings for snoring devices are typically done in a similar manner to our nightguards, but fitted to both the top and bottom teeth/jaw. Patient’s will typically see Dr. Vahan for a couple of visits and follow up visits to ensure a proper fit.
TMJ Treatment
Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, commonly known as TMD, can be a source of chronic pain and discomfort for many individuals. At Imaging Dentistry we can treat TMJ pain and disorders in multiple ways. If TMJ pain stems from bruxism, a night guard can help protect against further pain and damage. We can also use muscle relaxers on the tissues responsible for opening and closing the jaw to relieve pressure. Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride treatments can help kids and adults with cavity prevention. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral found in water, soil and rock. It’s natural compounds can help ‘seal’ a tooth’s porous structure, preventing bacteria and other harsh materials from penetrating and sticking to the surface. This helps in preventing dental carries (cavities), bad breath and other oral health issues over time. Fluoride treatments are a simple process and can be done during a routine dental cleaning.
Sealants
Dental sealants are another method or service dentists can use for protecting your teeth from future problems. Sealants can be applied to molars and used to fill deep gaps or crevasses in your tooth’s natural shape. The sealant can be applied after your routine dental cleaning and hardened to your molar. Sealants help prevent the build up of sugar or bacteria from resting in hard to brush places. This in turn helps with cavity prevent in the long run.
